The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion campaign “Mega Tourism Caravan” was successfully held in Ukraine from 2-3 October in the second largest city of the Ukraine, Kharkov. The major events in the campaign in Kharkov included two workshops conducted at “Kharkiv Palace Hotel”. The two workshops were conducted in collaboration with reputed tour operators”Join Up” and “News Travels”. Approximately 125 and more than 100 representatives of the tourism industry in Ukraine attended, respectively, in these events.

Iran’s New Foreign Minister Reiterates Support and Goodwill for Sri Lanka
During an interaction with External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris on the margins of the UNGA sessions in New York, Foreign Minister of Barbados Maxine McClean confirmed that the Prime Minister of Barbados will participate at CHOGM 2013 in Sri Lanka. Welcoming the Barbados delegation, Minister G.L. Peiris noted that the programme for CHOGM has been arranged in a manner to enable participants to experience other parts of the country. In this context he explained that the Commonwealth Youth Forum and the meeting between Business leaders and Heads of Government are being held in Hambantota in a bid to take the Commonwealth to the people. Explaining the Government’s vision towards creating an aviation, shipping and knowledge hub in Sri Lanka, Minister Peiris added that Hambantota presented much potential in this regard given the newly opened international airport and deep water port.
Mega Tourism Caravan “Days of Sri Lanka in Ukraine”, 1 – 14 October 2013
In continuation of the “Mega Tourism Caravan ” held in August 2013 in the Republic of Belarus, as part of the ‘Tourism Promotional Campaign’ in CIS countries, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation with the collaboration of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau will launch the fourth phase of the promotion campaign in the Ukraine from 1 to 14 October 2013.
Sri Lanka receives broad cross-regional support in the HRC on substantive progress in the reconciliation process
Sri Lanka received strong cross-regional support in the Human Rights Council from countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America on Thursday ( 26 September 2013) which uniformly welcomed and commended the country’s significant progress achieved in the reconciliation process.
