Sri Lanka offers cash contribution to the flood victims in Myanmar
On the request of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, President Maithripala Sirisena approved a cash contribution of USD 25,000 to be presented to the Government of Myanmar as relief aid, following the devastation to life and property caused by the recent floods in the country. The contribution was handed over to H.E. U Min Thein Zan, the Ambassador of Myanmar in Sri Lanka, by Foreign Secretary Chitranganee Wagiswara, on behalf of Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera, at a simple ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday 14 August 2015. President Sirisena concludes State Visit to Maldives for the 50th Anniversary of Independence
President Maithripala Sirisena returned to Sri Lanka on Monday (27th July) afternoon concluding his State Visit to Maldives for the 50th Anniversary of Independence.
President Sirisena was accorded a ceremonial welcome in Maldives. He attended the official function to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Independence and the special reception held on the occasion on Sunday 26th July.
President to attend the Golden Jubilee of Independence of Maldives
President Maithripala Sirisena will undertake a state visit to participate at the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Maldives on 26th July, 2015 in Male. The President will be accompanied by the Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake and senior officials of the government.
President Sirisena will be welcomed on his arrival in Maldives on Sunday afternoon with a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
