Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Cuba presents credentials

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Cuba Mahinda Ratnayake presented credentials to the President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Mario DÍaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the Palacio de la Revolución in Havana, Republic of Cuba, on 23 September 2025.

As a State Ceremonial presentation held at the Palacio de la Revolución, Ambassador Mahinda Ratnayake was received by the Chief of Protocol and accorded with a guard of honour and a ceremonial welcome by the Presidential Guard. Following the event, the Ambassador presented the credential papers to the Cuban President at the Palacio de la Revolución.

During a brief conversation following the ceremony, the President warmly welcomed the new Ambassador and extended his best wishes for the latter's successful tenure of office as a resident Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba. The President cherished the longstanding 66 years of Diplomatic relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance enhancing the trade relations. The Ambassador conveyed to the Cuban President the good wishes and felicitation of the Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and stated that he would strive to bring the two countries closer together and elevate the economic, healthcare and cultural relations.

Ambassador also paid homage to the statue of Jose Marti, the National Hero of Cuba and the whole Latin America, at the revolution square.
