The Ambassador and the Governor discussed the wellbeing and rights of Sri Lankan expatriate workers in the Karak Governorate. More than one thousand Sri Lankans are working in the Karak Governorate, which is located in the north of Jordan, nearly 200 Km away from the capital, Amman.

During the discussion, the Governor stated that 90% of Sri Lankans in his Governorate are employed in garment factories while the rest is working as domestic helpers. The Governor assured that all Sri Lankans are being looked after very well by their employers.

The discussion also focused on increasing the number of Jordanian tourists, particularly from Karak, to Sri Lanka and vice versa.

Karak is a significant city in the Islamic history, which is home to ancient byzantine castles and battlefields where Arabs and Romans fought.
