Ambassador of Sri Lanka engages in discussions with Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and Environment

Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Havana Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne met with the Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Eduardo Martinez Diaz on 13 September 2024. The meeting was also attended by the Director of International Relations and the Chief of the Cabinet of Cuba.

During the discussion, both parties expressed their interest in strengthening the bilateral relations in the fields of science and technology. The Ambassador suggested that the existing MOU on science and technology between the two countries (signed in 2016 and updated in 2021) be renewed.   He pointed out the need to include new clauses that will address the contemporary needs of both countries. The Minister expressed his agreement with the suggestion of the Ambassador.

Further, the Minister invited the Ambassador to visit the Cuban Government Science and Technology Research Centers in order to obtain firsthand information regarding the respective fields.

During the meeting, an investment proposal submitted by a Sri Lankan Company was also taken up for discussion.
