A Chinese book titled “Sri Lanka” launched in Beijing

The Chinese National Geography Publication Co Ltd in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau published a book on Sri Lanka in the Chinese Language titled “Sri Lanka”.  The book launching ceremony was held on March 15, 2013 in Beijing.

The book “Sri Lanka” has seven chapters focusing on History, Black Tea, Gems, Buddhism, Beaches, People and Wildlife and features a number of eye-catching photographs and maps including very rare photographs on tea, heritage and wildlife.  The writers of the book had visited Sri Lanka to gather first hand information in addition to the information and photographs provided by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing for compilation of the book.

At the ceremonial launching of the book, Sri Lankan’s Ambassador to China, Ranjith Uyangoda, stated that “Sri Lanka” is the first ever book to be written in the Chinese language by Chinese writers and would immensely contribute to the promotion of people to people contacts between Sri Lanka and China.  He commended the contents and features of the book and stated that the book would more certainly induce its readers to visit Sri Lanka to experience the natural beauty of the green paradise in the Indian Ocean.

Meng Qing Ran, a leading Professional Underwater Photographer in China made a presentation featuring Blue Whale Watching and Dolphin Safari in Sri Lanka while Zhuyin, co-author of the book and Chen Gan, founder of the Travel Star also spoke on Sri Lanka.

The launching ceremony was jointly organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka, Chinese National Geography Publication Ltd and 360buy.com.  A larger group of weibo.com followers of the pre publicity of the book participated at the launching ceremony.
