The Sri Lanka Embassy in Washington D.C. observed the 1st of January work day with the hoisting of the national flag and singing the national anthem. The Ambassador and the Embassy staff also read out the oath/affirmation demonstrating the commitment to carry out policies that would contribute towards greater prosperity for the people of Sri Lanka.
Ambassador Samarasinghe in his message to the staff of the Embassy re-capped the significant amount of work that had been accomplished in 2025 by working as a team and expressed the hope that similar dedication to overcome the challenges faced by Sri Lanka especially in the aftermath of cyclone ‘Ditwah’ is shown and called on everyone to work as a team to overcome the new challenges posed in 2026.
