Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia commences duties for the year 2026

The official ceremony marking the commencement of duties for the year 2026 was held under the patronage of Sri Lanka Ambassador to Brazil C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne by hoisting the National Flag at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia, Brazil and followed by the singing of the National Anthem and observing of two-minute silence to commemorate the members of the Tri-Forces and others who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland.

Ambassador and the staff of the Embassy took the Oath/Affirmation of Public Service under the vision “a thriving country and beautiful life”, to be resilient in the face of challenges and to implement the public policies and goals entrusted efficiently, productively, with firm determination, utmost dedication, honestly and with loyalty to the public.

During her address to the staff, Ambassador Chaminda Colonne highlighted the current situation in Sri Lanka, aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah and emphasized the role of the staff of the Embassy during this critical period. The Ambassador called for a more focused and productive approach to strengthening and expanding economic relations with Brazil and nine other South American countries accredited to the Mission to better serve and contribute meaningfully to the recovery, resilience and long-term development efforts of Sri Lanka. While explaining the role of every individual of the Mission, the Ambassador requested their collective efforts for achieving the Sri Lanka Government´s goals.

The ambassador conveyed warm best wishes to the staff for good health, happiness and success in the year 2026 and the ceremony concluded with the serving of refreshments.
