The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta successfully organized and facilitated two defence study tours to Indonesia from the Army School of Logistics and the Defence Services Command and Staff College of Sri Lanka, as part of their academic programs, from 15 July to 8 August 2025.

The visit by the Army School of Logistics, held from 15 to 25 July, included a delegation of 24 officers who engaged in productive discussions with officials from the Indonesian National Armed Forces Headquarters (TNI), the Indonesian Defence University (IDU), the National Resilience Institute (LEMHANNAS) and the Coast Guard Headquarters (BAKAMLA). The delegation also visited the National Museum in Jakarta, the Indonesian Aerospace Industry (PT DI), and the Indonesian Defence Industry (PT PINDAD).

The second visit, by a group of 24 officials from the Defence Services Command and Staff College, commenced on 28 July and will continue until 8 August 2025. During this 10-day program, the delegation is scheduled to meet with representatives from the Indonesian tri-services and other related institutions to gain insights into Indonesia’s defence structure, operational practices, and strategic outlook.

Both delegations visited the Embassy on the first day of their respective programs, where Chargé d’Affaires (a.i.) Nilanthi K. Pelawaththage delivered a briefing on the Indonesian economy, political landscape, and bilateral trade relations between Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
