
Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLBFE), organized a high level visit of Sri Lankan skilled manpower sector delegation, led by Chairman of the SLBFE, Kosala Wickramasinghe, to the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia on 14 May 2025 with a view to promoting Sri Lankan skilled manpower in the Kingdom.
An exclusive first-ever -of- its kind roadshow to promote Sri Lanka skilled manpower was hosted by Asharqiya Chamber in Dammam on 14 May 2025 with a B2B networking session between the visiting Sri Lanka manpower sector agencies and their Saudi counterparts, human resources agencies and companies directly recruiting skilled manpower.
Vice Chairman of Asharqiya Chamber, Hamad Albuali welcomed the Sri Lanka manpower delegation to the Eastern Province and expressed his happiness to host increasing number of Sri Lankan trade delegations during the past few months highlighting the growing momentum in private sector interactions between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia.
Delivering the keynote speech Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajwad stated that the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia is a major hub for industries with the presence of world’s largest oil company, Aramco and one of the world’s largest industrial complexes in Jubail, Sri Lanka’s skilled manpower sector has huge potential to cater to the needs of the industries in the Province. Ambassador also pointed out that since the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia is undergoing significant transformation under Vision 2030 with numerous projects aimed at diversifying the economy, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting tourism, it is timely for the Sri Lanka’s manpower sector to plug into the supply chain of employment opportunities that are unfolding under such projects.
The Chairman of the SLBFE thanked the Government of Saudi Arabia for providing employment opportunities for a large number of Sri Lankan migrant workers over the years in the Kingdom and expressed Sri Lanka’s readiness to partner with Saudi Arabia’s development projects by providing quality Sri Lankan manpower for win-win benefits.
Sri Lanka Embassy also hosted an interactive session between professionals from Sri Lankan community in the Eastern Province and the Chairman of the SLBFE together with the visiting delegation. A ‘Job Bank’ which was specially created by the SLBFE for the Sri Lankans seeking employment in the construction sector in Saudi Arabia was also introduced during the meeting. The Chairman of the SLBFE was presented a memento by the professional club in Dammam in memory of his visit to the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
