Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe delivered the keynote speech at an event titled “Meet the Ambassador” organized by Stamford International University, Asoke Campus in Bangkok, Thailand on 13 March 2025. The event provided an opportunity for students to interact with the Ambassador and gain insights into Sri Lanka–Thailand relations.
The Ambassador’s speech focused on the themes “The strong relationship between Sri Lanka and Thailand: historical ties and future prospects” and “Opportunities in Sri Lanka – Thailand relations in the era of global connectivity”. Accordingly, she highlighted the deep-rooted historical connections between the two countries, dating back centuries, and emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral ties in the modern era. In addition, the Ambassador also elaborated on the opportunities available for collaboration in areas such as trade, tourism, investment, and cultural exchanges.
Established in 1995, Stamford International University is a private university in Thailand that offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs with a strong focus on international education.
Around 60 students from various academic backgrounds participated in the event, and engaged in an interactive session with the Ambassador. The students expressed keen interest in enhancing their understanding of the evolving bilateral relations.
