The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand hosted a visit for a delegation from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) of Sri Lanka as part of their Executive Masters of Business Administration (EMBA) exposure programme. The visit that took place on 02 March 2025 aimed to provide participants with valuable insights into the Embassy’s work, particularly in the areas of economic diplomacy.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe welcomed the delegation and delivered opening remarks. In her address, Ambassador Edirisinghe emphasized the crucial role of the Embassy in fostering bilateral trade, investment, and tourism ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Following the Ambassador’s address, Counsellor (Commercial) of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok, Vireshika Bandara delivered a comprehensive presentation, offering the delegates an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the Embassy’s activities in relation to economic diplomacy. The strategic efforts of the Embassy in promoting economic cooperation, facilitating trade and investment opportunities, and enhancing Sri Lanka’s visibility in the Thai market were explained by the Counsellor.
The interaction provided an excellent platform for the Executive MBA participants to understand the dynamics of economic diplomacy and the ways in which the Embassy actively contributes to strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence in Thailand.
