Embassy of Sri Lanka promotes the country’s culinary heritage at Saudi Food Culture Festival

 

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh promoted an array of Sri Lankan cuisine at the Food Culture Festival 2025 held at Grassy Park at Diplomatic Quarter, Riyadh from 05 to 09 February 2025. Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, O.L. Ameer Ajwad inaugurated the Sri Lankan food kiosk at the festival. The festival offered a fusion of gastronomic delights to the visitors through four zones: workshop zone, theater zone, booths and kids’ zone.

Sri Lanka took center stage at the event, captivating attendees with a vibrant array of activities ranging from workshops and a food kiosk to enchanting live performances. A delightful selection of Sri Lankan traditional delicacies was showcased and served to the visitors, while Sri Lankan chefs demonstrated live cooking at the workshop area for 03 days. The live culinary station featured Sri Lankan traditional food items such as pol roti, fish cutlet, kottu, kokis and konda  kevum.

Moreover, live performances of traditional Sri Lankan dance by Sri Lanka International School children as well as professional dancers showcased the country’s rich cultural and traditional heritage.

The exhibitors’ area featured more than 30 booths, with food kiosks and retail stores from around the world, inviting visitors to indulge in a world of flavors and explore unique cultural items.

The Food Culture Festival was organized by the Saudi Culinary Arts Commission in collaboration with the Quality-of-Life Program which is a key component of Saudi Vision 2030 that aims to promote Saudi contributions to arts and culture.
