The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, Export Development Board of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Tea Board, promoted Sri Lanka’s export excellence at the 30th edition of Gulfood 2025. The exhibition was held from February 17 to 20 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The 30th edition of the Gulfood 2025 was a remarkable event, featuring 5,500 exhibitors, renowned chefs, the Food500 Summit, and impressive trade deals worth USD 20 billion. More than 80 exhibitors participated in the expo in which Sri Lanka stood out presenting its finest products including premium tea, spices, cinnamon, coffee, coconut-based products, fruits, and confectioneries. This event was a unique opportunity to highlight the country’s rich culinary heritage and innovative offerings in the international food market.
Positioned as a pivotal trade gateway between the East and West, the UAE offers Sri Lankan exporters a valuable opportunity to introduce non-traditional and value-added products to an extensive market through the exhibition. In this remarkable event, participants had the opportunity to gain insights from industry experts into food manufacturing, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and agribusiness with a particular focus on fostering technological innovation.
In connection with the Gulfood 2025, the Consulate General organized a networking session at the consulate premises enabling Sri Lankan exporters/participants to engage with business leaders, innovators, and prominent retailers and distributors including SILA, SAFCO and Barakath. Addressing the gathering, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Dubai, Alexi Gunasekera highlighted that the event served as a valuable platform for exploring potential collaborations, further enhancing Sri Lanka’s presence in the global food market, while also facilitating participants to forge connections that may lead to successful business ventures and strategic partnerships. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of diversifying exports of Sri Lanka and expanding value-added products to achieve this year's export target of 19 million.
Attendees were treated to a selection of Sri Lankan cuisine catered by the Sri Lankan restaurant “Bamboo”.
