Ambassador of Sri Lanka meets with President of Polish Investment and Trade Agency

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Poland, Priyangika Dharmasena met with President of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, Andrzej Dycha on 20 February 2025, to promote Polish investment and trade relations with Sri Lanka.  Potential areas of investment from Poland to Sri Lanka including renewable energy, IT, agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, tourism and hospitality were discussed.

During the discussions, the Ambassador pointed out Poland’s overseas investments in the renewable energy sector and urged such investments in Sri Lanka, a land rich in natural resources, including solar and wind power, with opportunities readily available for foreign investors.

Further, the Ambassador provided an update on Sri Lanka’s economic recovery following a period of recession, and the improving investment climate, while also highlighting the attractive incentives available for foreign investors.

Referring to Poland’s expertise in food processing techniques and manufacturing, the Ambassador invited Polish investments in such sectors where there is immense potential for advanced Polish technology to be infused into textile and agricultural machinery of Sri Lanka, reducing wastage and producing quality products. The strategic geographic position of the country and advantages available for foreign investors and businesses were also underscored during the deliberations. Furthermore, the discussions focused on organizing investment webinars, visits of business delegations and further approaches of solidifying economic relations.

President of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, Andrzej Dycha expressed interest in strengthening investment and trade ties with Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Polish Chambers of Commerce. President Dycha also referred to the possibility for investments in the tourism realty sector, noting the increasing popularity of Sri Lanka, among Polish tourists.
