The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad participated in the Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association (PFOWA) Annual Charity Bazaar - 2024 held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan on 01 December 2024. A large number of Embassies and High Commissions actively took part in the PFOWA Bazar along with over 20 local charitable organizations & local entrepreneurs in Islamabad.
The Charity Bazaar was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar. Held under the theme "Joining Hands, Joining Hearts", the event aimed to raise funds for charitable activities benefiting underprivileged communities, and provided an opportunity for diplomats and their families to showcase their countries' rich cultural heritage.
Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, A. Christy Ruban and his spouse attended the opening ceremony. The Sri Lankan stalls at the event highlighted the country’s tourism, cultural heritage, and a selection of renowned products, including Ceylon tea, spices, wellness items, handicrafts, and traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. Visitors to the Sri Lankan stalls were treated to freshly brewed Ceylon tea.
The annual participation of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad in the event reinforces the mission’s commitment to promoting Sri Lanka's culture and products, while supporting charitable causes in Pakistan.
