High Commissioner - designate of Sri Lanka to Pakistan Admiral Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne (Rtd.) presented the Open Copy of his Letter of Credence to Chief of State Protocol Tipu Usman at his office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on 06 December 2023.
High Commissioner- designate Admiral Wijegunaratne (Rtd) stated that he looks forward to further enhancing the close and cordial relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan and extended warm greetings of President Ranil Wickremesinghe to the President of Pakistan for the continued progress and prosperity of the country and the peoples of Pakistan.
The Chief of State Protocol wished High Commissioner – designate Wijegunaratne success on his new assignment as the Head of Mission of Sri Lanka High Commission to Pakistan and pledged Pakistan Government’s fullest cooperation during his tenure.
Followed by the meeting with the Chief of State Protocol of Pakistan, High Commissioner – designate Admiral R C Wijegunaratne (Rtd.) met Director General of South Asia, MoFA, Pakistan Ilyas Mehmood Nizami. During the meeting, Admiral Wijegunaratne discussed matters related to Sri Lanka-Pakistan bilateral relations including trade and education cooperation.
Minister Counsellor of the High Commission A. Christy Ruban accompanied the High Commissioner - designate to the meetings.
