Sri Lankan Ambassador in Italy, Jagath Wellawatte, who is concurrently accredited to the Republic of Cyprus presented his Letters of Credence to President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, as the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Cyprus on 06 November 2023 at the Presidential Mansion in Nicosia, Cyprus.
At the credential ceremony, High Commissioner conveyed the greetings of President Ranil Wickremesinghe to President Nikos Christodoulides.
High Commissioner Wellawatte and Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Cyprus Pieris Theofylactou Pieri met the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance of the Republic of Cyprus on 07 November 2023, and discussed on entering into a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Migration Mobility Partnership between the two countries and Sri Lankan migrant workers’ social insurance scheme.
