The Deepawli celebration 2019 organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Lebanon was held under the patronage of Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Republic of Lebanon Shani Calyaneratne Karunaratne at the Embassy premises in the presence of large Sri Lankan and Indian gathering on 27 October 2019.
The event consisted of religious activities, Pooja dances and songs performed by the migrant workers and their children in Lebanon.
Ambassador Karunaratne addressed the gathering and spoke of the importance of Deepawali festival in a multi ethnic and multi religious society.
Second Secretary/ Labour T. Luxmidharan delivered the welcome speech and HOC/Second Secretary Chaturi Perera delivered the vote of thanks.
All participants were served with Sri Lankan Pongal rice and other savories and sweets prepared by the Embassy.
