Ambassador Jayatilleka attends CARICOM’s 46th Anniversary Reception

On 14 July 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka attended the reception, organized by the Embassy of Grenada in the Russian Federation on the occasion of the 46th Anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), at the invitation of Ambassador of Grenada, Oleg Firer, Honorary Counsul of Jamaica, Chetwynd R. F. Bowling and Honorary Consul of Antigua and Barbuda, Julien Hansen.

The Guest of Honor at the reception was Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Senator Kamila Johnson Smith, who had arrived in the Russian Federation for a working visit at the invitation of Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sergey Lavrov. During her address to the attendees, Minister Johnson Smith underscored the importance of the CARICOM as an organization, aimed at integration of states for the mutually beneficial development of trade, diplomatic, and economic relations not only within the Caribbean region, but with the rest of the world.

At the reception, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka had a discussion with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Hon. Kamila Johnson Smith on the recent developments in the Caribbean region and its role in the global affairs.
