Ifthaar was celebrated by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah on 25 May 2018 in collaboration with the city’s Sri Lankan expatriate Community under the guidance of Consul General, Justice A.W.A. Salam. Approximately 1200 Sri Lankans belonging to all faiths attended the event.
The event commenced at 6.00p.m., followed by recitation of holy Qiraat by master M.T. Ahmadh Hasni. Welcome address was delivered by First Secretary/Labour & Welfare of the Consulate General J.A.D.P. Manjula.
Welcoming the gathering, First Secretary (Labour & Welfare) stated that Ifthaar helps to build unity among all Sri Lankan communities.
A presentation was made by Dr. Haja Mahideen Mahroof, Lead Consultant, Obstetrician Gynecologist and Perrinatologist, who expounded on the medical benefits and advantages of fasting.
A medical camp was conducted at the Consulate General premises to coincide with the Ifthaar event, and dinner was hosted by the Consulate General for the gathering.
