Tops Rs 2 billion profit marl in 2013

SriLankan Catering (Pvt) Ltd. has reported an impressive profit of Rs. 2,200 million in 2013, with a 68% growth and revenue of 5.7 billion and an expectation of a revenue of more than 5.7 billion at the end of 2014.

SriLankan Catering serves the in-flight meal requirements of a large number of airlines that operate out of Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport, including SriLankan Airlines, and is the sole airline caterer in Sri Lanka.

Sarath Fernando, CEO, SriLankan Catering said, "I am delighted to announce these impressive results, which are a credit to the entire team at SriLankan Catering and to our marvellous production facility."

"We go beyond international standard when we start giving choices to our Sri Lankan passengers. Quality wise SriLankan Catering does everything to the best of its ability to make sure that every customer of airline is looked after at its optimum," he said. "SriLankan Catering has achieved impressive profits during last few years because the volumes are up and we are expecting an impressive revenue growth of more than 5.7b at end of 2014," he noted.

"Expansions will come at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport in 2015; we are going to see a small flight kitchen at Mattala. Mattala Airport is a very important to us when it comes to business," he said.

"We give the best of food and best of service to our customers. SriLankan Catering started in 1979 and today it is a fully owned subsidiary of SriLankan Airlines. We have staff strength of nearly 1000 at SriLankan Catering," he said.

Anthony Gibson, Executive Chef, SriLankan Catering said, "At SriLankan Catering's state-of-the-art flight kitchen a total of 5.4 million meals are produced yearly. We produce an average of 16,000 meals per day." "SriLankan Catering provides in-flight meals for 13 airlines that operate in and out of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

"These include globally reputed airlines as Emirates Airlines, British Airways, Korean Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Malaysian Airlines, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Kuwait Airways, China Airlines, Singapore Airlines as well as Mihin Lanka and SriLankan Airlines," he said.
