At the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Frankfurt am Main celebrated Eid ul – Fitr, which was attended by a few community leaders, the Hon. Consul of Sri Lanka to the Federal State of Baden Wurttemberg and the Sri Lankan Muslim Community residing in the Federal State of Hessen.
In her welcoming remarks, Consul General Madurika Joseph Weninger, wished all present ‘Ramadan Mubarak’, stating that Ramadan is a season of reflection, prayer, charity, fasting and community and the sacred day of Eid provides Muslim communities throughout the world with an opportunity to renew their commitment to support those who are less fortunate, to strengthen their faith in God, to engage in worship, and to fellowship with all communities.
She emphasized that the Muslim community has been an integral part of Sri Lanka's population mosaic since ancient times. In Sri Lanka, Muslim Mosques, Buddhist Temples, Hindu Kovils, and Christian Churches have long coexisted while respecting one another's religions. She also reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to bring all communities together during major religious events ensuring cultural diversity of all Sri Lankans.
Imam Syed Abrar Shah conducted the Islamic Religious Prayers and appreciated the presence of the Sri Lankan Muslim Community in Germany and thanked the staff of the Consulate General for organizing a Ramadan Festival during these challenging times.
The Event concluded with the Consul General hosting a grand traditional Sri Lankan Ramadan Feast.
