The Foreign Secretary of India Dr. S Jaishankar visited Sri Lanka on 12 – 13 January 2016.
During the visit, Dr. Jaishankar held bilateral discussions with the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chitranganee Wagiswara and called on President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Leader of Opposition R. Sampanthan, former President Chandrika Kumaratunga, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and the Minister of Development Strategies & International Trade Malik Samarawickrama.
Discussions focused on the bilateral relationship including preparations for the forthcoming India-Sri Lanka Joint Commission co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka and the Minister of External Affairs of India.
