H.E. Nguyen Quoc Dzung, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam visited the Embassy on 24th April 2019 to offer condolences to the Government and people of Sri Lanka following the tragic terror attacks on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka. The Vice Minister was received by Ms. Srimali Jayarathna, Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy. Following the signing the Book of Condolence, Vice Minister condemned the attack and expressed that Vietnam is standing with Sri Lanka against the terrorism.
Many Ambassadors including Ambassador of India, Bangladesh, Philippine, Norway, Myanmar, Poland, Netherland and representative of Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations including Mr. Kamal Malhotra, UN Resident Coordinator in Viet Nam visited the Embassy to offer the condolences and affirmed their commitment against the terrorism.
On 28th April 2019, the Embassy organized a special blessing ceremony for all the victims and their family members on Ester Sunday. The ceremony was held at the Quan Su Pagoda Ha Noi (The Headquarter of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha). The Staff of the Embassy and few Sri Lankan who live in Ha Noi attended and Vietnam Buddhist Sangha expressed its support to Sri Lanka and commitment against the terrorism.
