The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Indonesia celebrated Vesak at the Embassy premises on 25 May 2021, while adhering to the Covid-19 health and safety protocols imposed by the Indonesian government.
The celebrations commenced with blessings by venerable monks of Vihara Jakarta Dhammacakka Jaya followed by a Dhamma speech and meditation. The Embassy staff organized Dana for the venerable monks following the religious observances.
The Embassy also arranged lunch for twenty Sri Lankan detainees who were detained at the Kuningan Immigration Centre, on the occasion of Vesak.
The Embassy was colourfully decorated and illuminated with traditional Sri Lankan Vesak lanterns and Buddhist flags showcasing Sri Lanka’s culture and tradition.
