For the first time the Embassy of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi organized a cultural festival at City Golf Club in Abu Dhabi on 27th May 2016 from 5.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. to mark Vesak celebrations, which is one of the biggest cultural festivals in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan Cultural Foundation under the patronage of the Embassy of Sri Lanka, organized the Vesak festival in Abu Dhabi to facilitate Sri Lankans to experience and enjoy our rich cultural traditions and practices together with fellow community members.ÂÂ Abu Dhabi Vesak was celebrated with electrically –lit pandals, colourful Vesak lanterns, Vesak pageants performed by children, lantern competitions, serviced food and drinks for participants and passersby (dansal) etc. together with the Vesak devotional songs and dramas based on “Jataka Stories” with the purpose of attracting many visitors to experience Sri Lankan rich cultural traditions.
