
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Oman conducted a Consular and Labour Welfare Mobile Service in Salalah (Dhofar Region) of Oman on 28 and 29 November 2025. A large number of Sri Lankan migrant workers visited the mobile office for passport renewal, document authentication as well as renewal of SLBFE registration and to discuss labour and consular related issues and obtain assistance.
Information was disseminated by representatives of Sri Lankan Banks on the importance of channeling remittances through banking channels.
The Embassy team also visited Baltic Textile Ltd, an apparel factory in Salalah that employs over 260 Sri Lankan workers and provided consular and labour welfare services.
Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy Maxwell Keegel hosted a dinner reception for representatives of the Sri Lankan Community in the Dhofar region at the Inter City hotel in Salalah to discuss the issues and challenges faced by Sri Lankans employed in the Dhofar region. The guests included Sri Lankan doctors, paramedics, engineers and hoteliers employed in Salalah. Counsellor (Employment & Welfare) Hemantha Wijerathne and staff of the Mission comprised the team that visited Salalah.
