The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai organised a religious Lakshmi Puja on the auspicious day of Dhanteras on 10 November 2023 connected with the Diwali Festival, the sacred festival of lights. This was followed by a vegetarian dinner of Sri Lankan delicacies.
The celebration took place at the Mission premises which was decorated with traditional marigold flowers, diyas, and floral rangolis.
Consulate Generals of USA, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam, 50 prominent trade and business members of Mumbai including the State Protocol Officer, President of Indian Merchants Chamber, renowned journalists and members from the Sri Lankan community residing in Mumbai attended the celebration.
The Mission presented the guests with gift bags that included Ceylon Cinnamon, Dankotuwa diyas, tourist brochures, and Sri Lankan sweets.
The Diwali celebrations not only showcased the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka but also served as a platform for fostering inter-community bonds and understanding.
