Students Visit Sri Lanka Consulate General in Shanghai

Fifteen students from Shanghai  Girl’s High School, High School  affiliated to Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Normal University  visited the  Consulate General in Shanghai.

The visit was a result of a proposal put forward by the Consul General of Sri Lanka to the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission in October 2011 to include an interactive session with diplomatic missions in their school curriculum.

The senior staff from the International Exchange Division of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission who accompanied the students thanked the Consul General of Sri Lanka for introducing such an interactive session to the  curriculum and informed that, as a result, the first group of students from  03 Shanghai schools were sent to the Sri Lanka Consulate General. The visit was jointly organized by the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and the International Exchange Division of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.

According to this programme, approximately 100 students from key middle schools would have the opportunity to learn about a foreign country annually by directly interacting with the Consulate Generals in Shanghai and would be an on-going feature in their curriculum. The students are expected to share the knowledge gained with their fellow students, especially through display projects during their annual school festivals.alt
