A group of members of the newly formed “Clean Sri Lanka – Austria Association” in Vienna met Ambassador M.R.K. Lenagala, at the Embassy premises, on 17 May 2025 to discuss ways and means through which Sri Lankan expatriates can contribute to Sri Lanka’s development priorities under the “Clean Sri Lanka Project”.
It was recalled that a significant number of Sri Lankan expatriates in Austria including youth had gathered recently to initiate “Clean Sri Lanka – Austria Association” with a view to identifying how they can, as a group, implement projects in Sri Lanka under this national endeavour. Head of Chancery Mahesh Gunawardana also participated at this inaugural meeting and made a presentation on Clean Sri Lanka Project shared by the Presidential Secretariat to the Sri Lanka Missions abroad to raise awareness in this regard among the overseas Sri Lankans.
The Ambassador appreciated the organizers for taking this initiative and conveyed to them that once the group finalizes formalities regarding its establishment, funding sources and operational methodologies, they can come up with project proposals to match the objectives of “Clean Sri Lanka Project”. The Ambassador said that the Embassy would be pleased to connect them with the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat and provide any assistance in this regard.
