The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Sydney in collaboration with the tour company “Paradise Island Leisure” held a Sri Lanka tourism promotional event at the Tattersalls Club in Sydney on 13th July 2017.
Addressing the audience including the members of the Club and prominent overseas Sri Lankans, the Consul General elaborated on the economic developments in Sri Lanka and the political stability that has led to growth of trade, investments and tourism. The Consul General also stated that commencement of direct daily flights with effect from 30th October 2017 from Sri Lanka to Melbourne along with connections to other major cities in Australia including Sydney will facilitate Australians to visit Sri Lanka. The Mission staff briefed the gathering the trade links between Australia and Sri Lanka, the trade opportunities available, the incentives offered that would benefit the investors and the rich culture and heritage of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan Tea was promoted at the event by the Consul General by serving freshly brewed tea and giving away booklets and flyers. Short videos on Sri Lankan tourism were also played and the staff of the Consulate General introduced the invitees the Sri Lankan culinary culture by serving hoppers at the end of the event.
The Guests were also presented with giveaway gift bags with tourism promotional material received from Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and boxes of Sri Lankan tea provided by Dilmah and Ceylon Emporium. The venue of the event was decorated with traditional Sri Lankan items provided by Ceylon Emporium in Sydney.
All the guests at the event praised the presentations that raised their awareness about Sri Lanka, its food and tea. The Consul General appreciated the opportunity given by the Tattersalls Club to feature Sri Lanka to their members and Mr. Shenal Cooray of Paradise Island Leisure for the coordination, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Ceylon Emporium and Dilmah Tea.
