Sri Lanka team led by Captain Fazil Marija won the Plate finals on 23rd September 2012 in Shanghai beating the Thais 22 - 0. Earlier in the day, they beat Singapore 41 – 0 and UAE 45 - 0.
The staff of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Shanghai met the Sri Lankan players at the venue and cheered the team. A group of Sri Lankan expatriates from Shanghai too joined the staff in congratulating the Sri Lankan team on their victory.
It was yet another proud occasion for Sri Lankans in Shanghai.
