Sri Lanka Snooker Team calls on Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Doha

The Sri Lanka snooker team participating in the Asian Snooker Championship 2025 in Doha called on Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Qatar, Sithara Khan at the Embassy premises on 19 February 2025.

The Asian Snooker Championship 2025, hosted by the Qatar Billiard Sports Federation (QBSF), is taking place in Doha from 15 to 21 February and features tournaments under “men’s”, “women’s” and “under-21 men’s” categories.

During the meeting the Ambassador emphasized the importance of participating in international tournaments and highlighted the value of gaining experience from such events. The Ambassador also appreciated and congratulated the team on their achievements and extended best wishes for their future tournaments.

The Sri Lanka snooker team expressed their gratitude to the Ambassador and the Embassy staff for the opportunity and the recognition of their participation.

Sri Lankan team is participating in the men’s and under 21-men’s categories, and so far the national snooker champion, Thaha Ishrath has qualified for the final 22 in the men's category. Khalid Omer, Shadhir Sanoon, and Mohamed Zaim participated in the under-21 men's category, with Ssnnon and Zaim qualified for the final 16 on their first overseas tour.

Minister of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Doha, Kashayapa Ukwatta and Minister Counsellor, Dharmasiri Wijewardana were also present at the meeting.
