Sri Lanka Showcases its Holistic Heritage at Abano Zen Holistic Wellness Festival in Italy

Sri Lanka made a culturally rich presence at the Abano Zen – Holistic Wellness Festival, held in Abano Terme, Padua, Italy from 30 May to 02 June 2025, showcasing the island’s lasting wellness traditions, renowned Ceylon tea and dynamic cultural performances.

Organized under the patronage of the Municipal Council of Abano Terme, Padua, this four-day event served as a meeting point between Eastern and Western cultures, traditions and wellness practices in a collective celebration of physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. This year in its fifth edition, the festival featured participation from several countries, including Sri Lanka, Thailand, Japan, the Philippines and Viet Nam, highlighting the global appeal of holistic health.

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Milan coordinated Sri Lanka’s participation at the event, aiming to introduce attendees to Sri Lanka’s deep-rooted Ayurveda healing practices, alongside Ceylon Tea and different varieties of herbal teas associated with holistic wellness. Visitors to the Sri Lanka pavilion experienced live demonstrations of traditional treatments, personalized consultations and educational insights into centuries-old wellness methods practiced in the country. The dedicated Ceylon Tea stall offered guests a taste of the world-renowned beverage through an engaging tea tasting session. Several premium varieties of pure Ceylon Tea were presented, allowing attendees to appreciate the unique flavour profiles that make Ceylon Tea one of the finest in the world.

The event also featured cultural performances from participating countries, including Sri Lanka.

Councillor of the City of Abano Terme, Ermanno Berto graced the event during the Sri Lankan dancing  performances and took the opportunity to felicitate the Consul General of Sri Lanka. He appreciated the Consulate’s efforts in organizing Sri Lanka’s participation at Abano Zen, noting that such initiatives enrich the festival’s multicultural spirit. He further expressed hope that these kinds of exchanges would pave the way for deeper ties between Sri Lanka and Italy, particularly in the areas of wellness tourism and cultural exchange.
