Sri Lanka Consulate General, Milan organized a “Sri Lanka Promotional Event “at the Consulate premises on 13th May 2016, for the members of “Oriental Sub- Group of Benvenuto Club”, Milan, who have shown their interest to explore Sri Lanka’ s history, culture, nature and life style.
The Benvenuto Club of Milan established in 1967, is a non-profit organization that welcomes English speaking ex-pat and Italian women to join together in a spirit of international friendship for philanthropic, cultural and learning purposes.
Consul General Pradeepa Saram presiding over the event elaborated on the wide ranging tourist attractions, hospitality of our people and unique travel expenses Sri Lanka has to offer and expressed the confidence that the Consulate General in Milan would have positive outcomes in promoting Sri Lanka as a favorable travel destination among the tourists in Northern Italy.
Several Milan based Sri Lankan businessmen engaged in gem & jewellery and tea also participated at the promotional event. Representatives of” JETWING Italia SRL” a renowned tour operator made a presentation on attractive tour packages and range of facilities available.
Milan based dance troupe of “Pradeep Shastra, performing Art of Sri Lanka “dazzled the audience with traditional dance items. The event also featured screening of “The Grand Pageant of Asia “produced by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. Country promotional publications and sachets of Ceylon tea were distributed to the participants. The event was concluded with serving refreshments.
Italian market is one of the most important tourism generating markets to Sri Lanka in the Western European Region with nearly 22,000 tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka annually.
