The Sri Lanka Embassy in Warsaw, participated in the International Charity Bazaar 2014, organized annually by the Association of Spouses of Heads of Missions (SHOM) Warsaw. Sri Lanka marked its participation for the 10th consecutive year at the Charity Bazaar of the SHOM.
The Charity Bazaar is a one-day shopping event held on the last Sunday of November, at the Marriot Hotel in Warsaw. This year, the event took place on the 30th of November. The event is held to raise funds for charitable organizations that help the poor and sick children, women, and elderly people in Poland.
The Bazaar showcased a wide array of products from all around the world, with 60 countries participating and showcasing their country products at the Fair. Approximately 4500 visitors attended the event which provided shopping of high quality exotic products at low prices.
Opening the Stall, Ambassador D. S. de Silva encouraged the visitors to experience the taste of high quality Ceylon Tea. The Sri Lanka Stall drew large crowds with Basilur Tea sponsoring the consumer tea stall and with strong support of the Sri Lanka Tea Board. The Embassy was able to promote Pure Ceylon Tea through the wide array of tea sold by “Basilur, Dilmah, Dils Tea, and Akbar Tea”.
The Sri Lanka stall also displayed Sri Lankan porcelain products, Mc. Curry spice products, Maliban and Munchee biscuits. The Bazaar was a huge success and this year, the money collected would benefit 15 deserving charities in Poland.
