The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington, D.C. participated in the 11th Annual "Winternational" Embassy Showcase held on 05 December 2024 at the Ronald Regan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C.
The annual "Winternational" Embassy Showcase provides a platform for embassies to promote culture, culinary traditions, handicrafts, visual art as well as travel and tourism exhibits from different countries among the US citizens and diplomatic community in Washington, D.C. This year’s event saw the participation of 68 embassies and was attended by around 8,000 visitors.
The Sri Lankan Embassy booth, adorned with vibrant Sri Lankan banners and colorful sceneries, highlighted Sri Lanka as a captivating tourist destination. The booth featured a variety of products, including Ceylon tea, local handicrafts, gift items, and traditional crafts, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the island. Additionally, tourism-oriented videos were screened, showcasing the country's pristine beaches, lush green mountain landscapes, and other natural wonders, further emphasizing Sri Lanka's appeal as a top travel destination.
Visitors to the Sri Lankan booth were served popular Sri Lankan snacks and a cup of Ceylon tea. The tea was provided by courtesy of “Basilur”.
The participation of Sri Lanka in the event was a success, with the country booth attracting a large number of American visitors who were particularly eager to explore the tourism opportunities the country offers. The engaging booth, with its vibrant displays and informative presentations, piqued the interest of many, sparking curiosity about Sri Lanka's rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and diverse travel experiences. The strong interest from American visitors highlighted Sri Lanka's growing appeal as a premier tourism destination.
