Hon. Vasantha Senanayake, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka met H.E. Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR on 05th August 2017 on the sidelines of the Grand Celebration of ASEAN's 50th Anniversary of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).
Discussing matters of mutual interest, the two Ministers considered ways and means of further invigorating the relations including cultural cooperation, cooperation between legislatures, immigration matters, defence training etc.
State Minister Senanayake also conveyed Sri Lanka's desire to enhance cooperation with the ASEAN including as a future Sectoral Dialogue Partner and sought Laos support for this intended partnership.
