Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur hosts Iftar

The Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur hosted its annual Iftar programme on 26 March 2024 at the High Commission premises, marking a joyous occasion of communal harmony and fellowship. Over 150 distinguished guests attended the event including Sri Lankan Muslim devotees, Islamic religious leaders, prominent Malaysian business figures, Malaysian Muslims, and government officials of Malaysia.

High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Malaysia Air Chief Marshal (Rtd.) Sumangala Dias  delivered an inspiring address underscoring the significance of the holy month of Ramzan for Muslims worldwide and the invaluable contributions made by the Muslim community to the Sri Lankan economy. He expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to host this meaningful Iftar event fostering unity among multi-ethnic and pluralistic Sri Lankan society.

The event included a sermon by Sri Lankan Ulama Al Shaikh Ashfak Sha (Dheeni), enlightening attendees on the spiritual significance of Ramalan. Following the sermon, Ustaz Al Sheikh Moulavi Mohamed Salih led prayers for peace and prosperity invoking blessings upon all present and beyond.

At the end of the event, the guests were treated to a delectable spread of authentic Sri Lankan cuisines.

The annual Iftar programme at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur served as a beacon of unity, celebrating the shared values of tolerance, compassion, and goodwill that transcend boundaries and unite communities in solidarity.
