The Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur celebrated the 76th National Independence Day of Sri Lanka with a distinguished reception at the opulent Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 07 February 2024.
Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan graced the occasion as the esteemed representative of the Government of Malaysia. In a heartfelt toast, she wished good health for President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and the continued prosperity and wealth for Sri Lanka.
High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Malaysia Air Chief Marshal (Rtd.) Sumanagal Dias spoke of the rapid recovery from the economic crisis and outlined the development road map of the country. The High Commissioner also underscored the invaluable contributions made by Sri Lankan Malaysians and Sri Lankan expatriates to the Malaysian economy and overall well-being of Malaysia.
The vibrant Sri Lankan culture was showcased through captivating traditional dances and music, complemented by the delightful flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine. Over 250 invitees including VVIPs, VIPs, diplomats, intellectuals, academia, business leaders, Sri Lankan expatriates and top level Malaysian officials witnessed the unforgettable moments of camaraderie.
