The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul participated in the 18th Seoul Friendship Fair, Korea’s largest multicultural fair, on the 4th and 5th of May 2013 at the Seoul City Centre, which is one of the prominent tourist attractions in South Korea. More than 60 countries were represented at the fair together with local institutions and 14 performers of different nationalities took to the stage.
The Sri Lanka Embassy successfully organized three stalls to display traditional handicrafts and tea, serve food and promote tourism. The Sri Lanka handicraft and tea stall was visited by a large number of guests who were able to browse through traditional masks and batiks and explore the various flavors of Ceylon tea. The food stand also became instantly popular as a long queue of hungry guests waited to taste some of Sri Lanka’s authentic cuisine such as hoppers and kottu, making it one of the most popular food courts. The Embassy also attended the Embassy chorus performances and made arrangements for Sri Lankan dance performances which were well-received by the crowd with applause.
