The Embassy of Sri Lanka embarked on a good will and humanitarian mission on 29th August 2014 by assisting "The Sisters of Charity", a non-profit organization located at Milosci, Warsaw.
Sister in Charge, Sister Margaret warmly welcomed the Ambassador-designate, Mr. D. S. de Silva, Spouse and the Embassy staff. Sister Margret said that the Charity depends solely on donations. The Charity has sisters from all over the world volunteering their time to helping the very poor and vulnerable.
Mr. D.S. De Silva embarked on this mission after meeting Sister Mala, a Sri Lankan nun who is attached to this organization who explained that they feed and clothe almost 200 people every day. The Embassy staff and well wishers donated winter clothes, blankets, jackets, towels and other essential items which can be of use for the coming winter season.
Mr. D. S. de Silva formally handed over the items to Sister Margaret who appreciated the initiative taken by the Embassy.
