
To promote Sri Lanka's flagship Tech Innovation Summit, "DISRUPT ASIA," Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Bahrain Shanika Dissanayake delivered a presentation to members of the Bahrain chapter of Business Network International (BNI) on September 27th at the Intercontinental Hotel in Manama.
The Disrupt Asia Conference, scheduled for September 17–20 in Colombo, co-organised by the Ministry of Digital Economy and ICTA, aims to spotlight Sri Lanka’s rapidly evolving tech ecosystem, which includes over 950 startups across the sectors of fintech, health tech, Agri tech, Ed Tech, Govtech and artificial intelligence. The event is expected to attract global entrepreneurs, Angel investors, and technology professionals.
In her address, Ambassador Dissanayake requested the BNI members to encourage their colleagues in the IT sector to attend the event in Sri Lanka. The Ambassador also requested the membership to support Sri Lanka’s promotional efforts in Bahrain and extended an invitation to explore cross-border opportunities beyond the Disrupt Asia Conference—including tourism, collaborative ventures, and cultural exchanges.
BNI Bahrain Chapter President Sarwa Velmuri in her remarks shared her many happy experiences in Sri Lanka underscoring the country’s appeal as a much sought after travel destination.
The presentation concluded with a discussion between Ambassador Dissanayake and the attendees, highlighting mutual interest in fostering innovation and international business ties.
