The Honorary Consulate of Sri Lanka in Salzburg, Austria together with the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Austria organized an event to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka on 09 February 2023.
The event hosted by Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Salzburg Christian Winzer was attended by Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka Majintha Jayesinghe, officers and honorary consuls based in Salzburg.
The ceremony commenced with lighting the traditional oil lamp and singing the national anthems of Sri Lanka and Austria.
Addressing the gathering Ambassador Majintha Jayesinghe recalled the close and special relations between the two countries He stated that the mutually beneficial partnership continues and expressed his gratitude to the friendly people of Austria who have stood by Sri Lanka and assisted the country in times of adversity.
Honorary Consul Winzer said it is an honour to host an event to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka.
The event featured traditional Sri Lankan dances by the Channa – Upuli Performing Arts Foundation. Sri Lankan cuisine and Ceylon Tea were served.
