Sri Lanka Export Development Board participated at the 39th Baghdad International Trade Fair from 1st to 10th November 2012. The Fair organized by the Ministry of Trade and State Company for Iraqi Fairs & Commercial Services was inaugurated by Iraqi Prime Minister Noor Al Malliki. Over 1140 companies from twenty two countries and approximately 1.5 million visitors had attended the Trade Fair.
The Sri Lanka delegation was led by Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Janaka Rathnayake. The delegation included officials from Adam Expo, AMP Ceylon Ltd., Enrich Tea & Food Exports (Pvt) Ltd., Edna Chocolates (Ceylon) Pvt. Ltd., Lanka Mount Castle and Sierra Cables PLC etc.
Prior to the commencement of the Baghdad International Trade Fair, members of the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, members of the Federation of Iraqi Chamber of Commerce and the Sri Lanka delegation was hosted to a dinner by Charge d' Affaires W.M.Senevirathna. The Charge d' Affaires briefed the guests on bilateral relations and the opportunities available to enhance trade between the two countries.
