The Maju Group of Malaysia entered into a joint collaboration arrangement with the Ministry of Transport of Sri Lanka to transform the public transportation infrastructure, and give visitors positive perceptions and lasting impressions of their stay in the country.

One of the projects under this arrangement will have two towers consisting of a luxury hotel and service apartments in close proximity to the Bandaranaike International Airport, scheduled to be up and running in the next 36 months. It is designed to enhance visitor experience to Sri Lanka creating positive impressions in them paving way to achieve higher-growth in the tourism industry of Sri Lanka.

An exchange of documents formalizing this joint collaboration arrangement was signed by Dammika Perera, Secretary to the Ministry of Transport of Sri Lanka, and Roslan Shariff, Managing Director of Maju TMAS, a member of the Maju Group of Companies.

The joint collaboration is based on a platform for technology transfer and shared experience and expertise. These services offered to the Sri Lankan Government by the Maju Group are on a pro bono basis. The event was witnessed by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, and Tan Sri Abu Sahid Mohamed, the Group Executive Chairman of the Maju Group.

Roslan Shariff said, "Maju TMAS has been operating and managing the Integrated Transportation Hub which was conceptualised, designed, constructed and managed by the Maju Group for the MalaysianGovernment in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur".

"The success of the Transportation Hub in Kuala Lumpur had realized the government’s objective of easing the traffic congestion in the city centre. The state-of-the-art design and facilities at the Terminal that the Maju Group built are similar to those of a modern airport".

"The passenger throughput is 45,000 passengers per day, and with the integrated system there is a safe and secure environment for commuters," he said.

Following this collaboration agreement, the inauguration of the Mixed Development Project at Katunayake Export Processing Zone took place, organised by QVentures Investments.
