Pure Ceylon Tea and Cultural Promotion event at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Vienna

The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Vienna organized a Ladies Tea Morning on 27th  September 2012 at the Mission premises.  Spouses of Heads of Mission, international organisations and representatives of the UN Women’s Guild in Vienna attended the Tea Morning. The event showcased Sri Lanka’s famed pure Ceylon Tea and provided a glimpse of the rich and diverse culture of the island.

Pure Ceylon tea, brought from Sri Lanka especially for this occasion, was served to the guests, who were provided a brief introduction to the history of Ceylon Tea.  A buffet of traditional Sri Lankan food accompanied the serving of tea.

The Austrian TV production on the sacred mountain of Adam’s Peak or “Sripada” was shown to the audience who were enthralled by the scenic beauty and harmonious religious co-existence in Sri Lanka, as exemplified by Adam’s Peak.  The age-old cultural and religious rituals and the rich artistic heritage of Sri Lanka were highlighted in the documentary on the “Esala Perahera” which was screened at the event.

Participants also showed great interest on the presentation and demonstration of the benefits of “ayurveda” in Sri Lanka by the representatives of Siddhalepa. The event culminated with each guest being presented with a gift of Sri Lankan spices and traditional “ayurvedic” products by Madam Mahira Azeez, spouse of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka, who hosted the event.
