“Sri Lanka Week at Carrefour Oman” - an In-store Promotion of Sri Lankan Food Products organized by Sri Lanka Embassy in Oman in collaboration with Sri Lanka Export Development Board successfully concluded at Carrefour hypermarket in Qurum City Centre in Oman on 05 October 2019.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Sultanate of Oman O. L. Ameer Ajwad together with Carrefour General Manager Adnane Samim had opened the event on 04 October at the Qurum City Centre.
Eleven Sri Lankan food sector companies namely, TradLanka Agricultural Enterprises, Pioneer Tea Exports, Kandrick Tea Beverages Lanka, Ceylon Nutrinut Holdings Pvt Ltd, Nelna Agri Developments (Pvt) Ltd, Jagro Pvt Ltd, Nidro Supply (Private) Limited, Eastern & Allied Agencies, Farms Pride (Pvt) Ltd, Stassen Exports Pvt Ltd, Possible Green Private Limited, participated during the event in order to showcase their Sri Lankan food products to the Omani market.
A wide range of Sri Lankan food products including rice, spices, fruits, vegetables, processed foods, tea, coconut kernel products, poultry and other varieties of consumer food were displayed during the four days promotional event at Carrefour Oman which began on 2nd October 2019 at Muscat City Center and concluded at the Qurum City Centre on 5th October.
The Sri Lankan producer companies, who participated during the promotional event, were able to study the Omani market by directly engaging with customers and obtaining firsthand information with regard to their requirements and interests. The Sri Lankan companies were of the view that Oman was a high potential market for Sri Lankan food products and that it could also serve as an entrepot for Sri Lankan products to enter North Africa and other GCC countries.
The eleven Sri Lankan food producer companies also engaged with their counterparts from Omani business community as well as Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) at B2B networking sessions held on 01 October 2019 and established business links.
