Dr. Gamini Samaranayake, Ambassador designate of Sri Lanka to the Republic of the Philippines met Hon. Albert F. Del Rosario, Secretary / Foreign Affairs on 12th August 2014 at the Department of Foreign Affairs, manila and presented his open Letter of Credence and the Letter of Recall of his predecessor. During the meeting the Ambassador designate and the Secretary/ Foreign Affairs exchanged views with regard to the enhancement of bilateral cooperation especially in the field of Higher Education, including the extra placement for medical Students, nurses and allied Medical Sciences, as well as Trade, Tourism and Energy sectors.
Dr. Samaranayake and the Secretary/ Foreign Affairs have identified establishing the direct air links as key to the enhancement of bilateral cooperation, trade, tourism and people to people relations between two countries.
Hon. Minda Calaguian-Cruz, Assistant Secretary (Office of the Asia and Pacific Affairs), Mr. Edwin Mendoza, Director (Division IV, Office of the Asia and pacific Affairs), Mr. Angelito Nayan (Special Assistant at the Office of the Secretary) (OSEC) and Mrs. H.M.G.R.R.K. Wijeratne Mendis, Minster of the Embassy also participated in the discussions.
